Leigh Harriers Athletics Club was formed in September of 1909 and has an unbroken record of providing athletics for all the community.
In 2006 the club achieved Community Amateur Sports Club status and also became one of only four clubs in the Greater Manchester area to be awarded Club Mark Accreditation and was reaffirmed in 2013.
The Club’s home is on the Leigh Sports Village site. Originally on Holden Road in the town centre, the Harriers transferred to the top class facility and brand new athletics track in 2008.

The club is supported by a group of dedicated volunteers, including UK Athletics qualified Athletics Coach practitioners covering most athletic disciplines, from children in athletics to high level performance coaches; with the aim of the club to give all athletes the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Current athletes have represented Great Britain, England, Northern Counties, Greater Manchester, Wigan Borough, and Wigan Schools.
The club accepts children for training from the under 11 age group (9+ years old) and competes in all ages track and field, road racing, cross country, and fell running, supporting all National, Regional, County, and local competitions.
