The Road Race Season gets underway with 1st Central Lancs Grand Prix


The first of the seasons Central Lancs Road Race Grand Prix Races were hosted by Bolton Harriers at Leverhume Park on Sunday, and in perfect running conditions over three hundred runners answered the starters’ gun.

Liam Moore was first home for the Harriers team in 8th place 17:35, Phil Williams 11th 17:49, Dave Smith running for the team after running the 10k SEL Cross country on Saturday was 14th 18:02, Richard Smith 26th 18:59 being the team counters finishing in 2nd place.

Good early season running from Martin Conroy 53rd 20:15, Allan Smith 21:17, 86th Dave Pollitt 21:36 92nd, Olivia Stones running a personal best time of 22:22 was 1st U20 lady in the race, Craig Elsby 117th 22:36, Rachel Hodgkinson another PB 25:02 39th lady, Susanne Smith 26:17 47th lady, Eileen Castledine 25:55 2nd O60 lady in the race, Dianne Denny ran a personal best time of 29:32 and Angela Pike 93rd lady in 30:56. This was a good first road race of the season and the start of Leigh Harriers road race championship campaign. The second race of the series of the CLGP is at Smithhills on Sunday 6th March.
