Sixteen year old Leigh Harrier Keely Hodgkinson ran a World Junior qualification 800m time at the Watford British Milers Club Elite Grand Prix athletics meeting on Saturday. Running in the elite “A” race and sharing lane eight with her nearest rival Keely went off hard and kept her cool throughout the race, putting in a blistering finish to cross the line in 2:04.26, dipping inside the World Junior Championships qualifying standard and clipping a second off her previous personal best. This performance puts her top of the U17 Ladies National rankings.
Personal best times were achieved by Will Rawson in the senior mens 5000 mts race finishing in 5th place in a time of 14:46.52 putting him top ranked under 23 athlete in the North west. Abigail Howarth running in the ladies 5000 mts race ran a time of 16:27.44 ranking her 2nd in the North West, whilst Olivia Stones running in the U20 ladies 5000 mts ran a time of 18:02.92 putting her in the top 5 rankings in the country for Junior Ladies.
